XLP vs David Phillips friendly match
Our team took on the rising football stars at XLP in our first ever match. This friendly was a warm-up game for an even bigger event coming soon – be sure to follow us on social media to keep updated!
A few words from match organiser Ashley Elsey (Transport Operations Manager).
“After about 30 minutes of playing, it became apparent that XLP players were (slightly) fitter than us here at David Phillips so we decided to mix the team up with half XLP players and half David Phillips players which evened up the game nicely! Overall, the evening was a massive success in terms of breaking the ice between us and XLP. We are eager to meet again in the tournament we have planned for later on in the year!”

Golf Day event for Mind
We held our annual charity golf day this year and raised over £2,500 to support Mind smashing our initial target. As well as a full day of golf, attendees were treated to a post round BBQ and some prizes for the following categories: Overall Winner, Top Team, Longest Drive and Closest to the pin.
Big thank you to all those who attended for their contributions and to Sam Smith (Account Director) for organising the event!

XLP Partnership
David Phillips has been working with The eXcel Project (XLP) since 2019, during this time we’ve provided 853 days of paid work experience in various roles from operations to design – we’ve even got XLP graduates working at the company to this day! We’re actively supporting XLP in organising a charity football match in the summer of 2023 and have worked with Macron Sports to donate some football kits for the players.
XLP operates in London working with 4,000 young people each year through education, mentoring, employability, community youth work, sports and the arts.

Tree planting at Cambridge City Football Club
Charlie Whinney (Chief Financial Officer) and Thaisa Cowin (Account Manager) worked with Cambridge City FC to plant 400 trees following our priorities to offset our emissions and be carbon neutral. We’re passionate about sustainability and hope the planting of these trees will benefit the local community and engage people to get involved in helping the planet.
“The donation from David Phillips was greatly appreciated and allowed us to complete the landscaping for the stadium build. The community planting day we hosted brought together lots of people from the village.” – Alice Dewey, General Manager of Cambridge City FC.
