Creating a unique show home in London’s bustling borough

The impressive development Alta at Consort Place offers 44 shared ownership apartments with 2 residents’ amenity areas within the building, accompanied of course by the extraordinary views of the capital.

Located in London’s bustling Canary Wharf, it’s no surprise the development appeals to a wide range of purchasers from young couples and families to working professionals within the city. Thus, David Phillips was tasked with designing a Show Home which reflected both the local area and the varied target market.

Using a mixture of furniture products, FF&E, window treatments and lighting we created a unique show home which provided a sense of aspirational living standards, achievable to the everyday buyer.

Design Director, Tali Leggett comments on the Show Home design:

‘We wanted the design of the show home to celebrate the appeal of life in Canary Wharf – to achieve this we incorporated linear shapes throughout the design to subtly emulate the surrounding architecture and the skyline of Canary Wharf. We also sourced artwork from independent designers to specifically reference the local area ensuring the show home felt unique and personal to its visitors. Whilst making the apartment look spectacular was key, we also wanted to ensure the show home demonstrated how functional the space was for its target audience – we included ample spaces for living and entertaining, and a designated work-from-home space was included in the second bedroom.

Our theme for the design ‘Urban Luxe’ which we feel describes the overall impression well. We wanted luxury but with a contemporary London edge, for example we feature opulent brass finishes throughout however these are always paired with sharper black finishes to provide contrast and interest.

In addition to the linear theme described above, we featured bold jewel tones and rich textures throughout the scheme to create a layered and enticing setting. Greenery plays a heavy part throughout the scheme to reflect the generous outdoor space available at Consort Place.’
