The cornerstone of a major plan to regenerate the City’s “Baltic Triangle”, Liverpool’s 2017 Cargo Building was at the time the largest build-to-rent (BTR) scheme outside London. It was the first in a series of BTR developments outside London from Vista, a joint venture between Countrywide plc and Hermes Investment Management.

Vista needed The Cargo Building to stand out in Liverpool’s fast-moving BTR market. So when David Phillips won the contract to furnish 324 units, we devised a furnishing scheme featuring a majority of bespoke pieces exclusive to the development.

Our aesthetic responded to the building’s vernacular, creating the strong sense of place and identity that’s essential to attracting the best tenants and achieving the best rental values
